The Gran Premio Argentino de Baquets 2016

We’re on the road again with Marcelo Doffo! This time Marcelo found himself in Argentina for the annual Argentine Grand Prix– a vintage car rally in the heart of the San Martin de los Andes in Patagonia. Marcelo Doffo and his brother Jorge both attended the event that took place from October 30th to November 6th.

This six day rally welcomed more than 49 vintage race cars- each required to be a 1939 model or older. Marcelo and Jorge had a Ford 1938 flat head, that had been modified to comply with the rules of the rally. All vehicles were required to maintain the vintage mechanics and aesthetics just like the cars that this race was inspired by. Participating cars were to be stripped of any unnecessary parts,  like the bumper or fender , in order to improve their weight to power ratio and increase speed.

The Moto Doffo Collection is a Hit at the Long Beach IMS Show

Now that’s how you make an entrance! On November 18th, nineteen of our most unique bikes made their debut at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach. As luck would have it, the Moto Doffo Collection was on display right next to the Ducati exhibit, giving on lookers a chance to see the evolution of these incredible machines. After a successful opening day for the press and media, the show opened to the public at 3 p.m and despite the rain, the crowds poured in!

Over the course of the weekend hundreds of attendees, both young and old, stopped to enjoy our beautiful collection. Some of the bikes on display were rare pieces including the 1967 Italjet Sidecar Racer 50cc and the 1959 Ducati 175 Formula 3.

MotoDoffo Welcomes Ducati Globetrotter Rider Eduardo Generali

This past weekend we welcomed Eduardo Generali, one of the riders on Ducati’s Globetrotter 90th project. Eduardo is a moto-adventure guide from Brazil (check out Moto Atacama for more info) and is riding the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro on the fourth leg of this round-the-world relay, handling duties from San Francisco to Indianapolis. On Sunday, October 9th Eduardo and his father stopped by to check out Doffo Winery and the MotoDoffo Vintage Motorcycle Collection. We also invited out some local Ducati riders and our friend Drew from SBK Corse for a meet and greet, and everyone was excited to meet Eduardo and hear about the bike and the project. Later that night we threw a traditional Argentine BBQ for Eduardo and his father, and exchanged stories over some glasses of Doffo wine.

Good Music, Good Food and Good Friends at Marcelo’s 65th Birthday

Happy Birthday to Marcelo Doffo! We recently celebrated the Doffo and MotoDoffo founder’s 65th with a special gathering of friends, family and Doffo Wine Club members. The theme for the night was “A Night in Memphis” and guests enjoyed delicious southern BBQ from Lucille’s Smokehouse. Southern California’s favorite Elvis tribute act, James “King” Kruk, performed for Marcelo and friends. People danced and wine flowed, and as the festivities wrapped up Marcelo was presented with a birthday check. Guests signed the check with their birthday wishes, and the night of music, food, wine and friends and family came to an end. Thank you to Lucille’s BBQ, James Kruk and his amazing crew, and everyone who attended to help ring in 65 big ones for Marcelo!

The 3rd Annual MotoDoffo Event to Benefit the Kurt Caselli Foundation, presented by SCORE International, was held at Doffo Winery on June 11, 2016. Thanks to contributions from event sponsors and attendees more than $32,000 was raised for the Foundation and their mission to improve off-road safety. We displayed over 150 rare, vintage and unique motorcycles from our MotoDoffo Vintage Motorcycle Collection as well as from some of the event sponsors.

One of the highlights of the day was a special Trials demonstration by Red Bull athlete Geoff Aaron.

Ducati 1952 Cruiser

Marcelo Doffo shares his fascination with Ducati and the story of his search for the rare 1952 Ducati Cruiser.

Ducati was never originally dedicated to scooters, but twice in factory history they tried building a scooter. The first was revealed in January of 1952 at the Milan fair just to compete with the two biggest scooter companies in Italy: Vespa and Lambretta, and their dominant invasion of the market.

The development of the 1952 Cruiser was the first scooter for Ducati. The Cruiser boasted many innovations for that time. It was the very first scooter with a 4 stroke engine, over head valves, and an electric starter. Giovanni Fiori developed the engine, an automatic 3 speed transmission, in cooperation with the exotic car design firm, “Ghia.” The idea was to produce a product aimed at a special segment of the population, with superior characteristics and an unmistakable look.

Catching Up With Why We Ride Stars: Meet the Doffos

The Doffo Winery sits on the northeast border of the Temecula Valley in California. It is situated on 15 acres of rolling vineyards and the winery has a unique combination of old world charm and a warm family feeling. But the draw for many riders is the Doffo family’s private collection of over 100 racing and vintage motorcycles, which resides in the MotoDoffo Barrel Room.

The father and son team of Marcelo and Damian Doffo are featured in Why We Ride. Damian recounts when producer/director Bryan H. Carroll and his wife visited the Doffo Winery for a wine tasting and mentioned that the Doffos would be great in his “film.” “We didn’t think it was true until the camera crew came. And then it really hit us when we were at the Red Carpet Premiere in Los Angeles.”

Hidden Gem: Temecula’s MotoDoffo and Winery

I didn’t expect much when I heard Honda had arranged for a wine tasting. Imagine my surprise when I found out this is where the wine tasting took place, inside the barrel room of Temecula’s Doffo Winery.

From rare scooters to obscure motorcycles to prized Ducatis, the MotoDoffo collection features a vast variety of bikes and memorabilia.

American Honda’s Jon Seidel (l) and MotoDoffo’s Damian Doffo hold up a bottle Doffo Winery did to celebrate the 2014 Valkyrie press launch.

I shared this as part of a sidebar to the 2014 Honda Valkyrie First Ride article, but thought it worthy of further mention beyond a sidebar so I added a little more information.
