World War II left Italy’s economy and infrastructure in disarray, and so began the rise of two-wheeled transportation that helped revitalize this nation. One company, Gilera, became known for producing affordable scooters and motorcycles for the masses, but in 1946 it began production on its most exceptional model to date: the Saturno.
From the MotoDoffo Collection: 1956 Ducati 125 Gran Sport (Mariana)
When most people think of Ducati, they think of bright red superbikes built for top speed on racetracks around the world. However, this was not always the case. In fact, although the Ducati brand dates back to 1926, it was not until 1946 that the company began to manufacture motorcycles. By the 1950s, Europe had fallen in love with racing, and the Motogiro d’Italia was one of the most prestigious races of them all. Winning this 3,000km race would be huge for any motorcycle manufacturer, so Ducati set out to make a motorcycle specifically to win these races.

The First Moto Doffo Strider Race
Recently Doffo Winery and Moto Doffo hosted it’s first Supermoto and Strider Event. The event took place during the The WAR Supermoto series, which is Southern California’s premier Supermoto race series. For those who aren’t familiar with what Strider Bikes are, they are lightweight all-terrain bikes that build two-wheeled balance, coordination, and confidence in children! On February 12th, parents and their tiny racer’s arrived at Adam’s Motorsports Park in Riverside to kick off the first event, and it just so happens that Damian Doffo was able to participate in a Supermoto race that same day as well! Damian shares with us how he came up with idea to start the races and how the first event went down!
